| Hey its Challenger! I am new here. I am a logo artist for many years now. I used to do sprites, but now i suck at them, which is why I am here at Twisted Liquid, to get better at spriting. Anyway, I am posting this topic to tell you which applications are best for logos. I am a member and I have heard many different programs used. This will be a list, that anyone can contribute to. Just post in this topic with a Bad Program or a Good Program and I will see if it fits. Good Programs Adobe's Photoshop - Any of the CS's. CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4 - For advanced users. Highly Recommended GIMP - Awesome Logo making tool. Semi-Advanced users. Recommended Flash - Very Cool. Basic Users. Mini-Recommended Adobe's Firework - Pretty nice tool, but not recommended for beginners. Recommended Paint.net - Good for sprites and such. Very beginner. Mini-Recommended
Bad Programs MSPaint - Worst Program for Logo Design. Good for Spriting. Game Maker Editor - Crap... Highly Trashable Spritem - Not a VERY good one. Can be good for piecing things together. maybe

| Even though i use Fireworks 8 it still gives a pretty good result! you should also put down Fireworks next to CS's because older versions are just as capable of giving a good result!
Im not the best with it but it can still so some good stuff.
The new Game Maker image editor with Gm8 is better at logo's than its predecessor. cos its got some better effects. Im not saying its amazing but it's slightly better.

| Fireworks is another Adobe function. It is actually really good. My friend on NoD did some wild stuff with Fireworks.
Link: The ones with the person in them!
Thanks for the addition. I will add it.

| Good program.Though it may not be as powerful as gimp, it is made for windows meaning it feels more user friendly that gimp and just so much easier to use. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

| I like Spritem, It's a sprite designing program. You can import a whole folder into the program and then you can make great looking sprites for all your games! Spritem is really simple to use. Just import the sprites, fiddle with them a bit, arrange them and click save. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Thanks, ~XverhelstX! | |

| hmm, personnally i don't like that program... not just because it's made on Game Maker but it's not really useful for spriting. | |

| okay. I am sorry verhel, but I must say, that is not a very GOOD choice of a program.
PM, thanks for pointing that program out. Although it isn't the greatest, I still sometimes use it.

| There needs to be a program that will help you shade your sprite and another mini-program to will take a still, and turn it in to a 360 animation. so far I can't find either of these... I use gimp, cuase this computer doesn't have a disk drive(GRRR) | |

| its not exactly hard to rotate it, Macromedia fireworks 8 lets you do animations, you could just rotate it by a certain amount on each frame. | |

| Welcome to the community CyntaxError love the screen name! LOL
If you are a GM user. after loading a sprite. go into the image editor and up at the top there is an animation menu that allows you to rotate any image with any desired angle and frame number. there are other great tools in their like lengthening an animation and Shrinking expanding animations and even fading.

| Yikes You're missing a very important tool if you wanna start a profession as a Graphic Designer Adobe Illustrator! How else will you produce your vector work Legit Professional companies will demand their logo work in SVG Vector format. It goes hand and hand with PS. So them two together and you'll be an unstoppable beast! xD Free Alternative to Adobe Illus. Inkscape Basically what gimp is to PS - JuNki3 | |
